Seasons Ending!!!
Before I start, I know you all are looking for the recap from
the 5A meet. It was late on Saturday when I got to my friend's house and I
started typing, next thing you know I was snoring. I'll give you a little
insight of the 5A meet in this season ending article. Plus that way, people
can't say I just talk about 5A...lol. What an exciting state meet. Friday,
I was batting a 1000 on my predictions, then Saturday rolled around. If I
was playing Battleship I would have sanked my own ship the way I missed on
those predictions.
Let me tell you what kind of shocked me the most...Skyline winning the 4x100.
I know I was not the only one. Plus they end the season with the fastest time
in the state...that reminds me, I need to update those rankings.
I got to give it up for them Hightower Boys representing the Houston area
winning the 5A Team title. I do have one problem. Why won't the U.I.L recognize
O.D Wyatt as the national record holder in that 4x200. Not to take anything
away from Hightower because you guys rolled. I was very impressed with the
winning time.
I know the field events don't get much love when it comes to track and field,
but I got to give props to some people in particular. First, Shade Weygandt
of Mansfield. She cleared 13-7 in the pole vault. Way to go. Next to triple
jumpers who came out and popped one over 50 feet. Chris Carter of Hearne and
Tyron Stewart of Cedar Hill. For those of you that saw Tyron's last jump,
man that was over 52 feet for sure.
The Texas Throwbacks was all over the award stand both days. I believe every member of the team received a medal. People, if you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and your child wants to throw...Send them to Red Oak to get trained by the best. Congrats to the members of The Texas Throwbacks - Skylar White (Desoto) Gold in shot and discus, Danielle Miller (Skyline) Bronze in shot, Christina Webb (Lincoln) Gold in the discus, Michael Carter Jr. (Red Oak) Bronze in the shot, and Corwin Pace (Red Oak) Silver in the discus.
Can
I be honest with you all. I did not think Erica Alexander (Clear Brook) was
going to be able to pull off gold in both the 400 and 200. She shocked me
with her performance. The reason why I thought she would not do it because
of the lack of rest in between each race and the 400 was first. She ran a
personal best (53.29) in the quarter then came back to win the 200. That's
amazing.
Like I said earlier, I was way off on my picks on Saturday. I have give props to "Da Kings of the 4x400" Desoto. Both the guys and the girls went out and proved old RoJo wrong. You know, I do what I can do to motivate the people...lol. You guys showed up and showed out. You know I got nothing but love for you all. In the boys race I had to pick against you. It would have been too easy for me to pick you. Ya'll did your thing. I'll see you all this summer. Good luck in New York. Go out there and represent this state. Sorry Cell, I couldn't get a one page apology for you...lol. Ladies, congrats on your team title.
Before I go, I got to show some love to the one person that got it right on Saturday, Rynell Parson of Stevens. You did your thing in that 100. Next year, stop thinking so much and just go out and do what you do...just run.
This has been a quick year. The time truly passes by when you are having fun. It has been a fun year. My man F.A.TT keeping the message board hot. Do your thing at TCU and remember, I want a hat. Make it happen. Well it has been real. Hopefully next year we won't have the disruptions we had this year with the site being down for long periods of time. Summer track is here so I will be out there doing my thing this summer. By the way, Tre' and his teammates won their last game and are headed to the playoffs as the #2 seed. Hopefully we will make it to the Super Bowl. If we do, I'll post it up here. Everybody have fun and safe summer.
Until Next Time...
RoJo
